The first seven days of my Unlimited Walk were incredible in many ways. Starting my journey right after leaving my apartment in the morning was quite stressful. In order to hand over my home of the last six years, I had lots of cleaning and other chores left to do. But in the end, it doesn’t really matter, as a band called Linkin Park once said. One foot after another...
Body and Mind
Over the last year, I spent most days not exercising and became like an animal caged at the zoo. I'm supposed to be outside, but I was feeling lost. That’s another reason for my walk—to get myself outside for an extended period and force myself to think. About what? I honestly don’t know yet. But it's crazy how the last seven days felt like a month. Spending almost all my time in nature is both taxing and rewarding.Even though my legs don’t really hurt and my feet are doing fine, by the end of the day your body is definitely talking to you. And even if you push yourself—you must listen! That’s why I’m typing this from the comfort of a nice hotel in Flensburg, Germany.
Wet, Wet, Soaking Wet
I was blessed with one of the warmest and sunniest days of the year. Even halfway through the second day, I was still enjoying the blue sky and the warmth of the sun. Little did I know, the next time I’d see that golden star would be almost a week later. After spending the night at my relatives' place in Elmshorn, the weather changed. That night, a thunderstorm woke me up with a bang—like someone had switched on the lights in the middle of the night, accompanied by the mighty rumbling of Thor himself.
From that day on, I never stayed fully dry. Most of the time it rained—at night, during the day, or at least the humidity was so high it felt like rain. My tent was never dry, but luckily my sleeping bag mostly stayed okay. Body heat and the super-thin bivy bag I use helped a lot.
But fighting the cold and wet air is exhausting. That’s why I decided to go full hyperspace mode and walk three days in a row, covering around 30 km each day. Now, in this hotel room, not only am I warm and comfy, but all my gear has finally dried out. I'm now planning the next part of my walk—through Denmark.
Have fun, enjoy nature and stay safe!

You will remember the rainy days, once you are walking day after day through the dessert. And always enjoy you walk, as the journey is the destination.
